Meet the founders of Lazuli Bazaar, Nermeen and Mahmoud. Of the many things they share in life, their ever-lasting love and passion for their homeland Egypt is one the strongest bonds they have. While they reside in the U.S., that passion has inspired them to travel home over and over again to find and collect unique artisan treasures from all over Egypt. They knew the world is hungry to explore the mysteries of Egypt and took it upon themselves to feed that curiosity by partnering with some of Egypt’s most talented artisans. The result is a beautifully curated collection of handcrafted Egyptian jewelry, accessories and home goods. Nermeen and Mahmoud want nothing more than to present these goods to the world while helping to revive the local Egyptian craftsmanship, and giving back to support Egypt's growth and prosperity.
Our mission at Lazuli Bazaar is to bring high-quality, luxury handcrafted goods from Egypt to the world, giving the world a taste of the fine products of Egypt’s markets while also supporting the local artisans of the country.
Lazuli is short for the gemstone name: Lapis Lazuli. It’s one of the most sought after stones in use since man's history began. It was particularly popular for the ancient Egyptians as they believed that its deep celestial blue color was reminiscent of the heavens and symbolized creation and rebirth. It remains to this day, a symbol of royalty and honor, gods and power, spirit and vision. It is a universal symbol of wisdom and truth. It was only fitting that such a powerful Egyptian gemstone remain such an inspiration to all things Egypt today.
